Many people believe that France was the first country to recognize USA independence , but that is not correct . It was morocco who did, back to 1776 , USA and morocco created a nice friendship and till now it is the oldest friendship with any other country , for almost over than 200 years . How come A Christian country had a friendship with a Muslim country . the answer to this is very simple, USA has no ally to defeat the British at that time , especially the new Americans trying to create a new navy system that will bring food and supplies in order to fight the British colonizer. the Moroccan kingdom that time have dominated the Atlantic ocean eat coast and the Mediterranean port of Gibraltar . by doing so , morocco control most the shipping and obliged many countries to pay taxes . therefore the american made good deal with the Moroccan king that time , and therefore getting the support of morocco and the protection of the american ships from being attacked by the British army. what a nice deal right :) . not only it did stop at this level , the Moroccan were helping the Americans by the slaves from Africa , and by providing the food and even the ships to help them again the British . why ? the British army colonized many country , and for them the Moroccan monarchy is still an enemy , and facing this enemy would make them vulnerable for many attacks to their many ships across the Atlantic , especially the monarchy of morocco ( morocco , Tunisia, Algeria , libia ) had the biggest ships in the Mediterranean .
